Who we are
This is the website of the Farmer Veteran Coalition of New York (FVC NY), an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit chapter serving veterans and military families across New York State. Our website address is: https://farmvetcony.org.
Information we collect
Contact form. When you use our Contact Us form, we collect your name, email address, an optional phone number, and your message. This is sent to our chapter email (info@farmvetcony.org) and a copy is saved in our website’s admin area so we can respond to you.
Volunteer form. When you offer to volunteer, we collect your name, email address, an optional phone number, your county, how you would like to help, your connection to the military, and any notes you add. This is sent to our volunteer email (volunteer@farmvetcony.org) and a copy is saved in our website’s admin area.
Membership sign-up. When you sign up with FVC NY on our Membership page, we collect your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, county, your connection to the military, where you are with farming, what you raise or grow, and any notes you add. This is sent to our chapter email and saved in our website’s admin area. It is also added to Givebutter as a contact, labeled with your answers so we can share relevant resources and events. You are added to our email newsletter only if you leave the chapter updates box checked. After you sign up, we link you to the national Farmer Veteran Coalition to finish your free national membership. Anything you enter on the national site is handled by the Farmer Veteran Coalition under its own policies, not by FVC NY.
Newsletter signup. When you sign up for our chapter newsletter, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and zip code. This information is sent to Givebutter, a third-party donor and constituent management platform, which we use to send email and text updates about chapter events and resources. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.
Donations. If you make a donation through our Donate page, that transaction is processed entirely by Givebutter. We do not collect or store your payment card information on this website.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information like your approximate location, browser, and device type. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can stop Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Who we share your information with
We share the information described above with Givebutter (for membership sign-ups, newsletter, and donation processing) and Google (for analytics). We do not sell or rent your information to anyone. Information handled by Givebutter is also subject to Givebutter’s own privacy policy.
Service providers. We also use a small number of service providers to run and protect this website: our web host, a content delivery service that loads the site’s images, and security tools that screen traffic to block attacks. These providers may process technical information such as your IP address and browser type only to deliver and secure the site. They do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep your data
Contact, volunteer, and membership form submissions are kept in our chapter email and website admin area for as long as needed to respond and follow up. Membership and newsletter information is kept in Givebutter until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to tell you what information we have about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time. To make any of these requests, contact us at info@farmvetcony.org.
Children’s privacy
Our website and programs are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent changes.
