Volunteer With FVC NY

Whether you have an hour a month or an afternoon a week, there’s a way to help New York’s veteran farmers.

Where help is needed

We’re building a network of veteran farmers in all 62 New York counties, and that only works with people who know their local farm community. Here are the areas where we need help most.

County outreach

Be FVC NY’s contact in your county. Share information with veteran posts, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and local farm offices, and let us know what’s happening nearby.

Mentoring

If you farm, help a newer veteran with practical advice, a farm visit, or a phone call when they’re stuck.

Events and field days

Staff a table at a county fair, farmers market, or veterans event, or help organize a field day.

Stories and social media

Help write Veteran Spotlight stories, take photos, or share chapter news online.

Resource research

Help keep our county contacts, grant listings, and resource pages accurate and up to date.

Fundraising and sponsorships

Connect us with local businesses and help raise the funds that keep our programs free.

Questions

Do I need to be a veteran?

No. Veterans, service members, military families, farmers, and anyone who wants to support veterans in agriculture are welcome.

Do I need farming experience?

Not for most roles. Mentoring is the one area where farming experience matters.

How much time does it take?

It’s up to you. Many tasks can be done from home on your own schedule, and you can give more time during some seasons and less during others.

Is there a cost?

No. Volunteering with FVC NY is free.

Do I need to be a member?

Membership isn’t required to volunteer, but it’s free and keeps you up to date. Learn about membership.

Who do I contact with questions?
