Only 8 days left: USDA conservation funding deadline is September 18, 2026

If you’ve been sitting on the fence about applying for USDA conservation funding, this is your reminder to call your local Service Center now.

The first-round cutoff for FY2027 covers several programs:

EQIP: cost-share for cover crops, high tunnels, pasture management, manure storage, and other practices
CSP: payments for expanding conservation work you’re already doing
ACEP: wetland and agricultural land easements
AMA: risk management support, with a focus on urban ag producers here in NY
GLRI, NWQI, and WLFW-GWWA: targeted funding for water quality and wildlife habitat

Applications are accepted year-round, but anything that comes in after September 18 gets held for the next round, and there’s no guarantee funding will still be there when that round opens.

If you’ve got a farm number and even a rough idea of what you want to do, call your local USDA Service Center this week: farmers.gov/working-with-us/service-center-locator

Know a fellow farmer veteran who’s been putting this off? Send them this post.
