VA plans to hire more than 2,000 claims processors in FY 2027

The Department of Veterans Affairs plans to hire more than 2,000 employees in fiscal year 2027 to process a rising volume of Veteran claims, adding to the roughly 13,000 claims staff already in place. VA processed a record 3.1 million compensation and pension claims in FY 2026 and reports it will continue recruiting through its 56 Regional Benefits Offices and the WARTAC training program for transitioning service members.
