State adds $6.5 million for Islip regional shellfish hatchery

New York added $6.5 million in state capital funding for the Town of Islip Regional Shellfish Hatchery, bringing total state investment to $16.5 million. The hatchery supplies juvenile oysters and clams to Long Island shellfish farmers and is tied to the state Blue Food Transformation initiative.
